Dear Marsha, Megan, Rebekah and Andrea, You may not remember me, but we had the opportunity to get to know you when the girls started out in Countrysiders 4-H, with my daughter, Andrea. You were such a kind and sweet family. While I did not get the opportunity to interact or work with Shawn at the college, I know he was thought highly of and will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

Shawn will be missed, both as an instructor and as a prominent feature of the college. I owe much to him and will keep those closest to him in my thoughts and prayers. Such a strong voice silenced way too early.

Shawn was a fantastic instructor! Being a former evening student, I had the privilege of 4 hour evening classes with Shawn. I will always reflect fondly on these classes, the length of the class was not intimidating when Shawn was in the room! Shawn helped me form a strong foundation for my career, as well as so many others in the IT Industry. I am grateful to have learned from the best! From the stories he would share in class, It was absolutely clear that Shawn cared deeply for his family, friends and ministries.

I only met Shawn once, yet was greatly impressed by his zeal for living life to the fullest! Shawn, my husband Larry and I loved his excitement as he talked about fishing! Shawn and Larry enjoyed Rocketry. What an awesome model for us all to live the days of our lives!

Shawn was a wonderful person to not only work with, but for. I had never thought of teaching classes before. I had only just started in December of 2014 when Shawn walked into my office and asked if I was interested. He was always available and helpful when I had questions related to teaching. He would come to my office periodically over the years to try and "aquire" the newest network equipment from me for his classes. He will be deeply missed. I pray that God gives you strength for your loss.

Shawn was my professor for the last couple years since I began at Lake Michigan College. His passion inspired me to add computer networking as a major. He always had an interesting story to relate to his teaching. Shawn had a clever, witty sense of humor and would blame his dad humor not landing on “Monday morning humor” or “Wednesday morning humor”. I didn’t know him on a personal level, but he was a really great stand-up kind of guy. When I had issues, he was there and was understanding and listened. His support meant more than he could ever possibly know. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family for this incredible loss.

He was a colleague and a friend that I will miss. I keep thinking "I need to check with Shawn for more info" but I know I can't now. We shared IT network stories regulary, but the conversation always shifted to his family. He was very proud of his daughter's successes. I'm very sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you all.

Shawn was my office neighbor for many years and a coffee buddy in the mornings, as we both usually got to work very early. I loved his humor and laugh. He will be missed. My condolences to his wife and three daughters.

Ohmigosh where do I start…Shawn was like an “onery” (Hooosier term) younger brother to me. We always had at least one smart remark exchange per conversation. But despite the friendly verbal jabs, we knew the contents of our hearts were based on our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for all the prayers and all the encouragement and all the help Shawn gave my family during our challenging times. I’m thankful for all the times shared serving in church family and children ministries with Shawn. I’m thankful for home group gatherings and activities shared with Shawn and his family. I’m thankful he met and spent time with Thomas before heading on out to be with the Lord ahead of us. The world is a duller place without Shawn. But Heaven sure is brighter. Love you all!
