I was just getting to surfing in the early eighties (1981). I met John at the beach and we often surfed together. He helped me learn the waves and often drove us back and forth to local surf spots. He was funny and kind and always willing to help me find some waves. So sorry for your loss. He was a good guy

John was a great guy to be around. He always had a smile and quick with a joke. He always had a passion for surfing. He was one of the few that surfed in Lake Michigan. My nephew told me he met an old man on the beach that was a great surfer. That was John enjoying life. I was lucky to be able to see his recent passions of his customized Karmann Ghia and his artwork on his antique bicycles in June this year. I have good memories of him playing drums when we had the band. He always talked about getting the band back together. Love you John, You will be missed.
