Jim was a great scout leader, and mentor for many children. I remember camping on Manitou Island with Jim and James many years ago. He was gentle, kind, funny, and full of life. Love to the whole family.

I’m so sorry for your loss Amy and family! James was such a gift to everyone who knew him and especially to children, outdoor learning and the several Eagle Scout projects that he supported! The North Shore trails and butterfly garden were blessed by Jim. I remember emailing him on a Saturday wondering if he knew anyone who could brush hog an area for a monarch way station. He didn’t respond but on Sunday afternoon I drove in and saw the field completely cleared. He quietly was making this world a better place for kids and for anyone who cared about kids or the environment. A gem of a human being! RIP

Amy (& family /friends). I knew Jim briefly but his impact on this community is huge. I got the pleasure of meeting Jim & the love of his life Amy when working to save North Point as a public park. Jim (& Amy) were instrumental in planting 100’s of trees & uncountable amounts of dune grass which helps to stabilize that awesome living (moving) dune. He also gave of his time as a Boy Scout leader, he reminisced about the winter camping & the lessons he learned & passed on to future generations in South Haven. The news of his passing was more than disturbing/unsettling… Amy I am so sorry for your loss (but forever grateful to have known him). RIP ?

Amy.My deepest condolences go out to you and family. I was shocked to here the news today. He always had a good way of looking at life. I'll never forget that smile. Had a lot of great bike rides with him in Sturgis and Milwaukee. What a blast! My favorite memory was the trip to Harley's 100th anniversary in Milwaukee by way of the Ferry. You ,Jim and I.Ferry was almost full with mostly motorcycles. All the pics are in my drawer of memories. I wont be able to make it to the memorial at the legion because of health issues. But my heart will be. R.I.P. Jim
