George was a deep thinker who loved his family unconditionally. While visiting us many years ago I found George in my back yard, playing with my dog. He sprayed hime down with the water hose and threw him a football. “What YOU need is a dog, I told him. It wasn’t long before he got Bella, his faithful canine, whom he spoiled by feeding her toast for breakfast, canned food for dinner, and a slice of cheese for a bedtime snack. He took her for rides on the cart and smiled every time he looked at her. We had deep conversations and he would ask questions and share his own thoughts on the world. He was proud of his children and grandchildren, and wanted them to always be happy. George was eager to hear how my own family was doing and my kids all loved “Grandpa George.” I will miss his humor, his thoughts, and the twinkle in his blue eyes when he smiled. I cannot make the funeral, but I made it to see him and close the blinds so his room wasn’t so hot. There is never enough time to stay and never a good time to go. We will see him on the other side.
