George's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of George here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
The Gregule family, including George’s parents, were fixtures of Grand Mere life when I was a child. In the days of enormous going-on-forever beaches, a much younger George was always outside. He was on the beach, in the water, on skis, and in the boat. He was devoted to his family, his dogs, and Grand Mere. There was collective joy when Gregules voted SEVEN NO at township meetings about paving the roads. His spirit will live on.

When we first came to Grand Mere in 2010, we couldn’t figure out the garbage can mystery; they were always pulled off the road, as tidy as could be, and we could never spot the person doing the kind deed to thank them. Finally, we figured out it was George, and when I thanked him I got a furrowed brow accompanied by a very small shy smile, which said it all. George was missed when his daily walking rituals stopped and we know how he will be missed by family and loved ones; we send our condolences. John, we are happy you are in residence on GM road in the lovely home you’ve worked so hard on.

So many amazing memories of George....our beloved "across the road" neighbor. We loved his hats, the long walks he took with his dogs and how much he loved Grand Mere. My family has known him for several decades. He is loved and will be remembered in all of our hearts.

George was an iconic guy in our Grand Mere Neighborhood. We have missed seeing him on his once frequent walks with the dog while smoking his cigar. Sending our thoughts and prayers to his family at this time of loss.

So many memories of George! His care of the neighborhood and service to others was phenomenal! He had many a daily walk with his cigar in his mouth and his trusted canine friend at his side as he checked out homes and returned garbage cans. He was always happy to stop and talk with folks (or help them if needed) along his route. He loved Grand Mere and did his best to protect it. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.

I remember Geirge's DELICIOUS, the best ever! baked beans, at Grand Mere neighborhood picnics every summer. John, you carried on his helpful spirit when the tree fell on our house and you immediately oversaw its removal. You were a Godsend to us. People speak highly of your Dad and his many accomplishments. He was bedrock to our community, and will always be part of us. Godspeed, George!
