David 's Memory Wall

Dave was one of the kindest, most gentle fellows anyone could hope to meet. We played in two bands together, did duo work, busked, and knew one another through the depths of addiction and into the saving grace of sobriety. It's a fact, Dave led me to sobriety not through words, but by example. He'd found his well ahead of mine, and as i spiraled further, he often stopped by - not to advise or preach, but just to "see how you're doing". One day it hit me, that he had always been the guy the rest of us thought was worse than we were - and that if he could turn it around, maybe i could to. It still took me awhile to hit my bottom, but when i did, he was the one i reached out to. Dave's msuci idol was the legendary blues harmonica player, James Cotton, and when i told him of my once of meeting Mr. Cotton and how accessible he was, that inspired Dave to head to Chicago on a number of occasions to introduce himself to the icon. James graciously took time to offer "Reeds" some playing tips, and invited him to join the legend onstage at his Club Cotton. Dave's devotion to AA/NA was immense, and without a doubt those who gained his empathy, compassion and guidance on their path to recovery are impossible to number. i was but one. He was unselfish, humble and his caring was real. In these times when it often seems cruelty and madness are everywhere, he was a force of love and kindness. Play on my friend. You made a difference. Love and Gratitude.

I only got to meet the man a few times. Always a pleasure and a caring man. Bless you Dave, I remember you through your wonderful children. You’ve made a tremendous impact on them and they have grown to be wonderful people because of you. If it wasn’t for you I would have never had the pleasure of meeting them. So thank you ?

Dave was one of my best friends back in High School, we lost touch for many years and then re-acquainted in the early 2000's. I have a fond memory of him driving up to Kalamazoo and take me to a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers concert in Grand Rapids around 2002. My 1st Sober Concert! You'll always be in my Heart. Love you Dave!

To the Brow family. I remember Mom (Carol) talking about her kids all the time. I felt I was part of your family and watched you all grow up. I remember little Anthony. Wilbur called me sometime ago and told me of Carol’s passing. Thinking of you all!

I will forever miss my big brother, one of my best friends, protector and grocery shopping partner. I will always remember our car rides singing an oldie on the radio with the windows down, and your quick wit and one liners with perfect timing. Stay cool big brother I'll see you again.
