Charles's Memory Wall

My late husband, Jim Hawkes and I met Chuck at church and attended many Bible studies where he and Jim would debate and laugh together. When Jim’s health declined, Chuck would call regularly, encouraging Jim and consoling me. Chuck called me the last day of Jim’s life and told me he way call me later. I didn’t know he told Jeff Filbrandt he wanted to be the one to take Jim on that final ride. Early that evening, after I had washed and prepared Jim’s body, Chuck appeared like a big, beautiful angel to hug me and take Jim. He bent down, kissed Jim’s face and cried as a brother would. When we walked out of hospice, Chuck stopped his procession to give each member of Jim’s family time to say one last goodbye. My dear friend Chuck took Jim on his last ride July 18, 2000. I pray they are together and getting all the answers to their Bible discussions from Jesus himself. Be at peace dear friend, I’ll never forget your friendship. Please tell Jim I miss him. 💔💔

What an incredible loss to anyone who knew Chuck. He was an amazing guy and fit perfectly into our extended family. Christmas and Thanksgiving won't be the same🥲. Our prayers are with your family, and we are comforted to know Chuck is with Donna, Jake and Mary celebrating eternal life. Love to all.

I’ve known Charlie since 1972 and worked with him at SHP for the next 9 years. Ran into him over the years but not often. I always regarded him as a good guy and friend. I was saddened by his passing. RIP my friend. Mike Honcharenko “Honcho”

They don’t get much better than Chuck Keebler. Always a warm greeting with a big smile. He lived a life of service to others, was interested in how life was treating you, and left you hoping your paths would cross again. I’m sorry for the family’s loss. I’m sorry for his friends losses. But I know one thing for sure, we all know he is in Heaven and was welcomed by a host of Angels. Rest in peace my friend. I’m blessed to have had you as a friend. Jim McCloughan

We got to know Charlie when he was visiting the Cooley "boys" at Combs. We visit almost daily on our walk to give sweet Roxy some treats. (Oh, and to say hey to Toby and Dewey, of course!) When we walked in, Charlie would be in "his" chair. He always had that mischievous grin, a twinkle in his eye and loved to give me me a hard time (Mike, not so much!!). =) It was fun asking him about weather predictions and, dern it, no matter what the meteorologists said, Charlie was ALWAYS right! He was a good guy! And after reading his obit, a very accomplished guy! Wow! You should be proud! We're so sorry about this loss. Even with our limited exposure, we'll miss him!

I first knew Charlie, because he volunteered at the Rehab department in the hospital. He was always so helpful and he seemed like he enjoyed serving others. I also got to know Charlie through church ( Life Bridge) and I was there when he got baptized, I believe at Warner camp. Charlie had offered to help out with whatever I needed. He even watched my son Jake when he was sick so I could go to work. I always knew Charlie loved his children and grandchildren. You are greatly missed Charlie!

Kirk and Debbie sure sorry to hear of charlie's passing. We have many fond memories with Charlie and Donna at the Lake. He stopped to visit us at our winter home in Florida a few years ago. He was riding his Harley at the time. We went out to eat together. He was a very good friend. We bought his Sea Ray, as you probably remember. Hope you and Debbie are doing well. Wish you the best! I met Charlie when he was a MSP with my Dad (John Arends). Later he was my coach on a summer league softball time. He was a wonderful person and fun to be around. I haven't seen him in many years but it sounds like he enjoyed his retirement. Sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed. RIP, Charlie.

So sorry to hear about Charlie passing. He joined the MSP the school before mine and we became friends in about 1964 in Niles. I was at his wedding with Donna. We rode our Harleys together and when he came to Florida also. He was a good pilot and we once flew together. We talked occasionally the last couple of year, I did not know he was ill. RIP brother (MSP) (USN)
