Dear Shirley & Family: We are saddened to hear of Arvin passing; but we know that our Lord was compassionate by relieving him from this earthly suffering. Arvin was a loving and dedicated father, husband, and faithful servant of Christ. Now he adds his voice with the heavenly choir of Saints. Our prayer for you and yours is that God will keep you strong in your faith and give you comfort during this time of sorrow. He will be missed; but not forgotten. Blessings, Charlie & Barbara Maul

Dear Schneck family and friends. So many beautiful thoughts occur as we come to terms with the passing of our lifelong friend. Arvin and I enjoyed a beautiful relationship from our earliest years. We were protected and nurtured by strong, devout families; baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran School (1950!) Please allow me to share my feelings of compassion and the deep love for the relationship Arvin and I shared-- growing up together in small-town- rural Michigan, enjoying all the joys energetic young boys experience, in the freedom of a safe and intimate community, amid the wonders of the beautiful peninsula we shared: Forest, lakes, streams. Papa Fred would take us all—Uncle Gary, Allen, Arvin and me—to catch perch off the pier in St. Joe. Whether fishing in Hickory Creek, riding our bikes to Grand Mere lakes, roasting wieners over a bonfire on the beach. . . These memories we cherish, and no one can take them away. Did we experiment with corncob pipes and get sick smoking corn silk? Can't be sure. Were we “busted” by the cops for shooting off harmless fireworks at the beach? No problem. Small town. The cops knew our fathers. After St. Paul's we went different ways for high school. I was enrolled in Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw (along with Lorraine). Mama Ida would take us back to Saginaw in their Chevy—and she would often let me drive! Wow! I was 16 or 17! In those days we were subject to the draft. After high school, Arvin volunteered for the Army; I went for the Air Force, opted for a career—and never returned to Michigan, except for funerals. When we last met—after 50 years -- we were of retirement age. We came for my brother Frank's funeral. Arvin invited the whole Schneck family for a reunion! Later on the four of us—Arvin, Shirley, Cheryl and I spent hours exchanging stories around the kitchen table, as Arvie brought out some of his homemade wine! Quite good! The following day, we shared one last hug as we were departing for home in Maryland. But we kept up our correspondence, via e-mail. Arvin loved to forward his favorite devotionals from Max Lucado, whom he admired. And now—sorrow and rejoicing. For “we do not grieve as those who have no hope” (1st Thessalonians 4:13). We are all blessed to share and proclaim our sure and certain hope of a joyful reunion in heaven. And so, we comfort one another with these words. Blessings! I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Arvin. He was a relly good boss that I learned a lot from. He was very good to me & my family when my son broke his leg while sledding & I did not have a car to get him to the hospital. He just gave me the keys to his big car & away I went. I will always be greatful. Thank you Lord for bringing me to that Super Market family. What memories.

Schneck’s was such a large part of our daily life growing up and Mr. Schneck (which we were always required to call him) was no exception. I’ll never forget breaking something and my mother made me tell Mr. Schneck to his face……..he was so kind and I learned a valuable lesson about telling the truth I never forgot. Love to the entire family. He is be remembered affectionately by MANY in St. Joe,
