Janet {and George} was a very welcoming smiling presence at Hope Church when Chris and I first arrived in South Haven {1975}. Her warmth drew us and our four children into the church family and helped handle the tough years of adapting into the community.

Please accept my sympathy and thoughts from my family, who remember that when they were little boys visiting their grandparents in Michigan, George and Janet lived next door— and were there for boat rides, fishing and picnics on the lawn! along with grandpa and grandma! Always so kind, so interested in others, and as you pointed out; the big ready smiles. Such gentle people. They just graced the world by being here. I am sorry for your loss. Your memories of Jan are surely treasures. Barbara Hartgerink, and for sons Daniel, Jeffrey and Kevin.

Sorry to hear the news. I remember watching man walk on the moon with her and your family. She was so in awe. All my memories are of her are sweet although I hadn’t any recent ones. It’s hard to loose your Mom. I’m glad you have each other. Vandy.

I have always remembered your parents, Laurie and Lynn, since first working with your father at the South Haven rehab dept. Loved the repartee with your father, as well as appreciated his trust in my working with him. And what a gem your mother was--such understated class, yet genuine warmth and caring. I also admired their immense love for each other, evident by how they spoke to one another, as well as the care they expressed for the other when they were not in the presence of each other. Finally, at this moment, I can only imagine how George is STILL bragging about both of you, with your mother smiling next to him! Boy, how they both loved you, and still do--only now, they will always be in your presence. May time, faith, and the love of your family and friends be with you. It truly was my honor and privilege to have known them.

I am sorry for your loss. You don't know me, but I am also a Reischke and Trapp descendant (not closely related to you). If you wish to know any of the Reischke family ancestry I would be happy to share with you. If you have any really old photos of the Reischkes I would love it if you would share with me.
