Shima's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Shima here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I wanted to share about some of my memories of Shima as my step-grandmother for over 15 years. I'm sure many people will mention how much she loved the Chinese Buffet! She took us there so many times that I cannot count! I remember how much she loved seeing our children and loved babies! I also remember her taking me shopping a few times for presents and clothing to take back for the children while we lived in Germany.
One specific memory I have was when she came with Opa to visit Germany. She went around to all the different places to visit the family that we have there dutifully being at his side while he and the family chatted in German. Opa, in his usual excitement in telling stories, would frequently forget to stop and translate. Every so often, she would remark, "Paul, Paul, what are you saying?!" (you have to say "Paul" with her accent which I thought was to be treasured)
I'm not sure if anyone will mention that she was my mom's Sunday School teacher back when my mom was in high school which shows how faithful she has been in church so many years!
I also remember her artistic mind. She would often have projects that she would make and share with other people. We have little pom-pom chicks and washcloths she made, among other things! She was certainly a blessing to my family!

Really enjoyed Shima. A fine lady! Warm, creative, down to earth and bright. I became acquainted with her at the Box Factory for the Arts. I'm grateful to have known her!
