Ron Bond and Family
I was sorry to see that Betty, your Wife, Mom, and Grandmother passed away on Monday. Your family, New Buffalo, and Oakland Dr. will miss a truly great lady and asset to the neighbor hood.
I remember when my Mom learned that you were moving in across the street and replacing the American Legion Post. Franny, as you probably knew her, was ecstatic that we were finally getting neighbors. When you built your house, she was grateful for her tremendously improved view in her neighborhood.
Over the years my Mom (Franny) often told me how she enjoyed her chats, visits, and get togethers with Betty (and you too Ron). Later I know she enjoyed seeing the Grandkids playing in the garage or yard from her front window. I know how much more secure she felt knowing you two were just across the street. Especially, after the dead end ended and the late night traffic started.
I know Sue and I could not be more grateful that Betty and you were our neighbors on the day my Mom (Franny) passed away. To this day I still cannot believe the historic over and above the call of Duty efforts you put in that day. I know I personally did not say Thank you at least as many times as deserved.
Afterwards it gave me great comfort and peace of mind to know Betty was on duty and walking around Franny’s house several times a week to make sure that there were no break-ins. A great neighbor and friend Again, Thank you Betty
Since selling the house I have only been back to New Buffalo five or six times and a couple of those times were funerals. Sorry for not seeing you in such a long time.
I will keep Betty in my prayers this week and Sunday. Hopefully, Franny was there to greet her when she arrived upstairs. If she was, I wonder if the chat ended yet.
Over the next several months try to remember her smile, great spirit, and good feelings that she added to at this time of year. From experience I at times it will be hard but try to compliment her by duplicating her spirit and goodness.
Take care.
