Betty Bond (nee Kirk), 79, of New Buffalo, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus while in the comfort of her home on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Betty was born on Nov. 12, 1938 in Sesser, IL to the late Alvis and Grace (Hammonds) Kirk. She was a graduate of Galien High School 1957 and was a proud Gael. Betty also attended IUSB. Betty married her husband Ronald Bond on March 3, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. She retired in 2002 after 40 years of service with Ingersoll Rand. Betty was proud of her farming background; she loved her flower garden and watching birds; enjoyed traveling; and was a member of the New Buffalo Service League.
Betty is survived by her husband – Ronald; her children – Bambi (John) Papes of LaPorte, IN, Dawn (Brian) Trusha of New Buffalo, MI, Dennis (Beth) Kellogg of LaPorte, IN, Dale (Debbie) Kellogg of Valparaiso, IN, Randy (Angie) Bond of Sister Lakes, MI, and Russell Bond of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren – Megan (Andrew) Peters, Christopher (Megan) Lonske, Alyse (Mike Flores) Kellogg, Ryan (Lindsey) Doperalski, Joshua (Emily) Kellogg, Evan Doperalski, Cole (Sky) Kellogg, Ethan Lonske, Logan Doperalski, Rylee Lonske, Katherine Doperalski, Avery Lonske, Ellamarie Lonske, Joshua Bond, Daniel Bond, Matthew Bond and Thomas Bond and great grandchildren – Austin Peters, Emmett Peters, Connor Doperalski, Greyson Lonske, Aubrey Bond, Gracie Bond and Eleanor Bond; siblings – Violet Zebell of Goshen, IN, Jan (Everett) Stolte of Irving, IL, Maxine (Bernie) Skala of Three Oaks, MI, Linda (Brian) Habel of New Troy, MI, Judi Smith of Three Oaks, MI, Farrell (Beverly) Kirk of Three Oaks, MI and Jake (Nancy) Kirk of Bridgman, MI. She is preceded in death by brothers – Carroll, Max and Bill Kirk and grandchildren – Olivia and Nolan Lonske.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, October 5, 2018, 11:00 A.M., at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family is on Thursday, October 4, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
