My grandma Karen was a wonderful woman and it is with a heavy heart that I have to say goodbye to her. She was a kind and gentle person who spread happiness into my life and many others. Even though we live far apart she always remembered me on birthdays and holidays and kept in contact with me and my family’s lives. The memories I have of her will remain captured in my heart. I am happy to know she is no longer suffering and I hope to greet her with open arms in heaven one day.

I will remember Karen as a joyful and pragmatic person. Strong in her faith, and with skill in problem solving. As I grew up she remembered me on each of my birthdays, which I thought was special given how far away I resided from her. She was a great Grandmother, and I will miss her.

Karen was a warm and witty personality! A dedicated worker, she held management positions in several of the jobs she had over the years. Karen was knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects, especially topics regarding home making and cooking skills. Karen was an excellent cook, she had so many tasty recipes over the years that I tried repeatedly in vain to duplicate because Karen kept the recipes in her head (a pinch of this, a dab of that, a handful of something else). Her Thanksgiving sweet potato recipe was outstanding! That was my favorite, as well as her chocolate cake recipe. Karen was quite creative, she made many wonderful fabric wall hangings as well as photo albums for our family. Karen was easy to laugh at the quirkiness of life. She was a wonderful mother in law who I will dearly miss.
