William E. “Gene” LeCount

William E. “Gene” LeCount, 76, of Stevensville, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Corewell Health- Lakeland.

Gene was born on July 28, 1946, to Hubert & Mary Lou (Shive) LeCount in Goshen, IN. He graduated from Goshen High School. In 1967, Gene was drafted into the United States Army being honorably discharged in 1968. On September 27, 1969, Gene married the love of his life, Frances Iwinski, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chicago. Gene was a hard worker and worked different positions for railroad car manufacturers, retiring as a supervisor for Barber Brake Beam.

Gene was a volunteer for the VA clinic in Benton Harbor. He enjoyed putting together model railroads, reading, and tinkering around his house. He was known for being kind and having a good heart.

Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances LeCount; son David (Jessica) LeCount of Portage; siblings, Pamela Kershner of Elkhart and Michael LeCount of Elkhart; and step-siblings, Judy (Les) Johnson of IL and John Kindig of FL.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert & Mary Lou LeCount; and step-mother Ruth LeCount.
