Thomas P. “Tom” Stambeck, 93, of Decatur, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born October 30, 1929, in Decatur, to Michael and Mary (Muha) Stambeck. On September 18, 1954, he married the love of his life, Donna Goble at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. Together they raised 3 children. Tom was a hardworking man, and owned and operated his own farm from a young age. He enjoyed the outdoors where he liked to go fishing and snowmobiling. He loved spending time with his family, playing card games, and polka dancing. Tom found peace knowing that he would pass away in the same home where he was born and raised. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Donna Stambeck; daughters, Gayle (Edward) Dow and Cathy (Craig) Ericksen; grandchildren, Jamie Warkentien, Sarah (Derek) Roehl, Kendall Dow, Tyler (Kendra) Dow, Larry Stambeck, Jr., and Courtney Stambeck; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Declan Roehl and Jolene Dow; brother, Edward (Evelyn) Stambek; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Stambeck; son, Larry Stambeck; and siblings, Raymond Stambek, Dorothy Reznik and Robert Stambek.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11AM, at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur with Very Rev. Robert Creagan officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 10AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 6248/Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Decatur, Decatur Human Services Food Pantry or Centrica Care Navigators.
