I will always remember Sue as one of the most upbeat, sunny personalities I know! I loved how she laughed and kept life in perspective. Sue was a mentor to me at EP Clarke and inspired me to be the best teacher I could be.

Sue was a mentor, confidant and friend. She was truly a gift of inspiration to all of us at Brown Elementary School. Sue's enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to her students was evident in all that she did. It was an honor to work alongside such a genuine human being. My life is so much richer from all that she taught me as a young teacher. Sue could make you laugh, help you navigate the tough stuff, and inspire you to keep it real all at one time. She was truly the glue of our upper elementary team. Her legacy work to teach poetry at E.P. Clarke in Mrs. Seafoss' room is an example of service beyond her years as a practicing educator. I continue to carry Sue in my heart and will forever be grateful for our friendship.

I knew Sue would be a lifelong friend the first time she took me to Schu's for popcorn and an ice cream sundae after school one Friday. I had just begun teaching at Brown Elementary and she took me under her wing. Teaching with and learning from Sue will always be one of my fondest memories. She was a sweet soul.

Once before Christmas I visited her in Spring Lake. She was very happy and showed me a robe she had made for her husband's Christmas present. The tag she wrote said "To raggedy Rick from Sewing Sue". So fortunate to have her as my teacher, so blessed to call her my friend.

Mrs. Stobbelaar was my absolute favorite teacher at Spring Lake Jeffers school. I didn't always know how to control all my energy and she was always so kind and encouraging in all aspects of the school day. My sympathies to the family. She was the best!

When I went through a really rough time and was living in a rental house Mom showed up at my door with the toolbox I had built her in middle school. “You were worried about your fence falling apart and my grand dog getting out. Let’s fix that Trace!” We spent all day patching my fence, and laughing as we made it up as we went along. She was that person who would drop everything when you needed her and brought laughter and smiles when you thought you’d forgotten how. I won’t forget Mom, I promise.
