I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Shirley. I worked with Shirley for several years on post surgery. She was an incredible nurse. She knew her stuff and was always respectful with a little fire under her. Surgeons respected her knowledge and she would always stop what she was doing to lend a hand. I remember being a patient too on the floor. She walked into my room and I immediately felt relief because Shirley was my nurse. She kept all staff who knew me out of my room… I had a newborn and she personally worked with Dr Bock to get a crib brought up from the nursery… then really kept everyone out! Yep, she was kind, smart , but had the fire too that a good nurse has to show. You as her family must be missing her, but let your memories and excellent genes get you through. I'm so sorry for your loss. I have so many wonderful memories of Shirley and of Doug. I remember they volunteered every summer at the community Vacation Bible Study - "Market Place." They were the "Money Changers>" and had so much fun with the kids. I also remember the many times we visited them or shared a meal when they were in Florida. We were there for the celebration of Doug's birthday. Most of you kids were there. What fun. I know Shirley wouldn't want us to be sad because she's now with her "Boyfriend" as she always referred to Doug. I'm sorry I didn't go see her much once she was at Caretel, but I thought of her often. We will miss her and we missed Doug for a long time. God Bless you all.

So sorry to hear about Shirleys passing. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. What a long history that the Ehmans and the Cheeks have, everything from Claudia baby sitting our little ones, to Doug and I working together and sharing a cold beer in a pub in Ireland. Your mother was a classic "get it done, no nonsense" nursing professional. Of all the health care professionals we experienced during all of Patties health problems, your mother was one of the very best. I occassionally would talk with her at the rehab center. We would exchange stories and share memories. I'm so sorry that I will not be able to attend the memorial service on Saturday, I will miss seeing all of you. My very best wishes to everyone. May God bless you. Regards, Bob
