Ron was a loving husband, father and papa. He was born January 27, 1945 in Benton Harbor, MI to Charles and Tillie (Janke) Fites. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1963 and served his country in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968. Ron married Linda Knuth in 1969 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. He built a successful business and was the Owner of Ron Fites Construction for 34 years. Ron was a stickler for detail and took pride in the quality of his work. He was an ingenious woodworker and had a knack for solving problems. He applied his passion for building things on many projects with his grandchildren. Ron had a distinguishable laugh and his own way of saying things; like calling sandwiches, sam-riches and the people close to him wingnut, or squirt. He appreciated the simple things in life such as daily walks, reading the news, tending to his yard, grilling on his Weber, feeding the squirrels and cruising in his corvette. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with his family and was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan on the field, court and stage.

Ron is survived by his wife, Linda Fites; his children, Michael (Jill) Fites, Sarah (Brandon) Kambach, Cynthia (Dean) Rocco, Heather (Mark) Ring and Matthew (Katie) Fites; his grandchildren, Connor, Katie and Miley Fites, Ashley, Samantha and Sydney Kambach, Grace, Griffin and Ella Rocco, Luke, Olivia and Maggie Ring, and Henry and Charley Fites; his sister Janet (Jim) Carney; and his many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
