Ron's Obituary

Ronald (Ron) Eubank, 79, of St Joseph, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 12, 2023.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1-4pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Harmony Foundation International or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Ron was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 2, 1943 to Austin & Cesta (Davis) Eubank. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1961 and went on to Indiana University in Bloomington where he earned his BA in Business Administration and, subsequently, his MBA.

Growing up in South Bend, Ron and his friends enjoyed the freedom to run the south side streets and River Park area. Always a lover of music - especially Motown - In high school and college he was in several bands playing the bass guitar and singing. Two of his bands: The Uncalled Four & The Phantom Five even recorded a 45 or two! While at IU, he participated in rugby and traveled with teams throughout the midwest.

After graduation, Ron returned to South Bend and worked at Miles Laboratories. This is where he saw his future wife, Marcia Campbell, across the cafeteria. They would strike up a conversation about good convertible weather, which led to dating and eventually marriage on August 22, 1970.

In 1974, Ron began working for Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, MI. He and Marcia would relocate their young family to St Joseph. Here, Ron participated in church basketball leagues, softball leagues, umpiring softball games at Plangger’s and throughout the state and region. Ron would retire from Whirlpool in 2001 after a 27 year career working mostly in Information Technology and laying the groundwork for connectivity across all of Whirlpool’s global business units.

At the time of his retirement, Ron was invited to try Barbershop Chorus and Quartet singing. With his love of singing & musical background, he jumped right in. Eventually, he started Contest Administration for the Barbershop Harmony Society and traveled around the country and to Canada, to facilitate contests. He also formed a quartet with his longtime best friend Dan Knuth, and barbershop friends Stan Hullah and Tom (Doc) Ray - they were The Reveliers. You may have been gifted with a song or two at the Silver Beach Carousel, have been a recipient of a singing Valentine, or may have seen them singing annually at the Berrien County Youth Fair or at one of their fundraising events for churches in the community.

Ron is survived by his wife, Marcia (Campbell) Eubank, his children, Lisa Eubank and Lori (Cody) Bennett; his granddaughter, Lauren Bennett; his family by choice, Tim & Julie Morgan and grandchildren, Liam and Fiona Morgan; and special bonus grandson, Michael Crawford. He is also survived by siblings-in-law, Harold “Chip” (Gail) Campbell, Steven (the late Candy) Campbell, Cindy (the late Mark) Campbell, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and parents-in-law, Harold and Bernice Campbell.
