I wish to convey our deep sympathy to Margaret and the family in this difficult time. They attended First United Methodist Church in Lexington when we were first joining and becoming members. My parents Marge and Bill Denny joined when they came to live with us. They both had different forms of dementia and my mother was blind and used a walker and used the hearing devices provided in church. I don't think we ever attended that the MacKays did not come up and greet mom and Dad. He clearly had issues of his own but his kind, exuberant personality and non focus on his own troubles spoke volumes. Dad especially noticed. I think that welcoming personality was such a delight and making my parents feel welcome was such a gift! I won't forget that kindness and try to emulate that when I can. He clearly had impact--in the small ways. that's a gift. Peace, healing and comfort to you all in the weeks and months to come...

Holly,
Thank you so much for your kind words. They bring back wonderful memories. I haven't been able to attend church in person but hope to do so in the near future. My best to you and Bill

My family knew Bob (and John Morlock) way back in the early SJS&L days. I became more familiar with him at BTCU when I was thinking of building a home. Bob gave me advice and guided me in the best direction. In an age when single, self employed women weren’t easily granted mortgages, Bob knew that I would not fall back on my promises. I admired him so much and always enjoyed seeing his smiling face and reminiscing together at the Credit Union. I will never forget his help and kindness.

Our deepest sympathy to Margaret and the family. I know Bob is with our Lord. Bob was such a great man. He hired me when I needed a job and was always there for me. Bob always said, "family first" and he meant it! He created an amazing work environment and culture at BTCU. We supported each other and Bob was always there for us. He was my mentor and friend. He touched so many lives. Many BTCU employees will remember the phrases " You look like Helen Brown" or "I'll be in the library for a bit." We miss him, his leadership, and all he meant to so many. God Bless You..

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Mr Mackay from church growing up but it wasn’t until my divorce that I understood how much being in a small town matters. He called me into his office at BTCU and asked me how I was and if I needed anything. He knew about my pending divorce and is the reason I was able to easily refinance my house. He truly cared about people.

Margaret, I am sad for your family's loss. I have always been so grateful for what a tremendous boss he was to my mother and to my family. Personally he advised me during my divorce and my parents' declining health. He was their executor even. I have never forgotten his and your friendship to me and my family. Much love

Margaret and family, I am very sorry that you have lost your loved one, Bob. We were classmates in 1960. Bob and I were in some classes together. He was always pleasant as far as I was concerned and although he was a leader but never arrogant just because he was the principal's son. I missed him at the 80th birthday reunion in August and so I figured he was possibly not well. I will keep you and yours in my prayers to comfort you in your grief.

Dear Mackay Family - So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Mackay. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Growing up in MI, Mr. Mackay always made me feel like part of the family and to this day believe his presence had an influence on my life. As I think about it, he was the first CEO I had ever met :) and can remember feeling like "someday I want to be as important and respected as him" :).....Whether it was having him teach me to fly fish or hitting the golf ball around, he left a lasting impression and will be remembered and celebrated by everyone that had a chance to spend time with him.

Dear Margaret and family,
It is sad to have Bob’s passing reconnect us after years apart. It was great to live and raise our families in St Joe and at the Methodist Church. Bob was an active person with both. However, life has changed and has caused families to spread out. It appears that you did, as we did, to be near one of our children. I hope that you have had many retirement years to enjoy your family and life as we did. We moved to Midland, MI six years ago to be near Angela and Family. Andy was able to fly in from MN and work several weeks remotely to be with June before she passed away with Ahlzeimer’s in May. I pray that technology will aid you in keeping connected with your friends and family in this difficult, new phase of your life.

Dear Margaret: I am so saddened to hear about Bob's passing and extend my deepest condolences to you and your family. Bob was a friend to me and our family in so many ways over the years. The work bond between him and my Mom at SJS&L was something that she cherished. She respected him in every sense of the word and I know that they have enjoyed reconnecting in heaven! Our years together as competitors in the church softball league always gave us something to talk and laugh about when we met off the field. As best I can remember, he had an awesome bat, and I always struggled to strike him (and Tim) out! My heart goes out to you. Bob was such a wonderful person and I know his memory will live on forever to all of us who knew him. God's blessings to you and your family.

Bob hired me as a work experience employee my senior year of high school. As a young adult starting out in the work force, he played a large role in how I continue to interact with our members, fellow employees and how I view work ethics. Bob was a fair and a caring boss, missed by all when he retired. My condolences to Margaret and the rest of Bob’s family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
