I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was my CPA for many years but more importantly an advisor and friend and fellow Spartan supporter. All of our business meetings turned into a discussion of our shared connection with MSU. He was a great guy with a great heart and all who knew him will miss him,

Bob, we just spoke a week ago. I and my company have lost a true friend. The community, businesses, MSU, and countless people have been enriched by knowing you. I’ll miss being told how many lunches I owed based on tax results yet my credit was still good. I’ll also miss bringing you hot chocolate to our morning meetings and hearing stories about our beloved Sparty. Our 50+ relationship will always be treasured. Rest In Peace Bob!

Dear Nancy, Karen, Steve and the Gerbel family, When I think of your dad, I think of a truly valued friend. I can’t count the number of years I’d sit down with him one on one at tax time. Most years he’d welcome me with a little smile and simply say…”you’re late.” It was a standing joke, but I just could never get in there before the middle of March… He was disciplined, worked hard and gave back. I knew a few of the things he’d done for our community, but I don’t recall hearing about them from him. And as the years went by I think his generosity just kept growing. I’m going to miss him. I admire him not only for generosity and the well earned success he achieved but also for the love and devotion he had for your mom. Bob, I’m going to miss you…and I still owe you lunch.

To the entire Gerbel family- My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dad and grandfather. Bob gave me my first job out of college in 1980. He treated me very well. It was amazing how much I learned from him that I used in future positions. He was a good man and this community has lost a great advocate. Rest in peace, Bob.

Dear Nancy and the whole Gerbel family. Please have Leslie and my condolences. We and the whole town has lost a friend. In recent years I would mostly see Bob when he was sitting outside his garage getting some sunshine. When he was there I would ride my Vespa up the hill and talk for a short while. It could have been about football or anything else. It was always a joy to see him and his smile. As an attorney working with him, he was an example of competence and integrity. We have lost a giant. We are so sorry for your loss.
