Richard was only a youngster himself when I was born, so he always felt more like a cousin than an uncle. Over the years his concern and interest in my welfare (even though there has usually been many thousands of miles separating us) was very much appreciated. His maintenance of such connections was extremely valuable when my father and mother were going through the very trying latter years of their lives (2004 to 2008). His advice and support will be greatly missed. The last of his generation in the family.

I also remembered Richard from the typing classes primarily and as an awesome teacher with a fun personality from my memories. Just like the picture used. I remembered also him being a great first example (for me) of how well people with any kind of physical disability could just work with and handle their lives as normal. Then known as Wesley Harrell, my mom Curtis Harrell remembers Ann and sends her condolences.

Dear Flora Family, although Richard was some years older than me I remember him well and with tremendous admiration as I watched him maneuver the long flights of stairs at North Warren High School. I would have been 10 years old when he graduated (all 12 grades in the same school), but he made a lasting impression on me about determination and a positive attitude. Much more recently we had become Facebook friends. I shall miss his posts and comments on mine.
