Very interesting and educated man to surround yourself. Had the pleasure of being with Paul on many international fruit trips. In S America Paul hung on my wife, Rosanna, who was happy to teach Paul Spanish, who was trying his best to converse. Just a great man Charles Woodworth, NY

Mr. Rood, as he will always be remembered by me, was the kindest soul I may have ever met. As a teen I worked on his fruit farm and learned so many things, but mostly enjoyed getting to know him and Gerry. They were both so sweet and welcoming and thoroughly cared about people. He had an infectious smile and a thirst for fruit farming like no other. Mr. Rood in his overalls will forever be engrained in my heart. There are definitely apples in heaven waiting for this kind man.

Paul Rood was a wonderful person. Intelligent, generous and a gentle soul. Attending hay rides at his farm was a.delight. My children and grandchildren always felt so welcomed by him. He had a big heart for children. He will be greatly.missed.

A gentle person, a scholar, a farmer in the best sense. He gave us a tour of the pear harvest this summer. I am honored to have known him.

Paul was such a good friend to my dad, Roger Thomas. He and Dad could “talk fruit” for hours. And he was always such a knowledgeable resource about almost anything involving horticulture! He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Paul was such a welcoming person. He made you feel valued and was interested in what you were doing.. On a trip to the UP picking a few apples with a MSU worker, I mentioned knowing Paul. This man exclaimed that Paul was one of his heroes in the apple business. Said we were lucky to know him. I agree. RIP Paul

We at the Covert Township Historical Museum are sadden to hear of the passing of Mr. Rood. He was such a valuable asset to the township and especially the museum. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
