I met Marla in 1986 when we worked for Whirlpool. I was new to Corporate Communications in Benton Harbor, and she was a veteran on the staff. She was always willing to share her experiences and help me along the way. I remember being so impressed with all the priorities she juggled, and the ease with which she did. I don’t remember ever seeing her stressed or losing her cool. She was always prepared, creative and positive -- no matter what or how much was on her plate.

We made the holidays more fun by having a “secret Santa” gift exchange. My first year, Marla had my name, and I’ll always remember she gave me a beautiful angel that we still place atop our tree.

I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to get to know her and work with her. She was wonderful!
