Kayla E. Betker, 29, of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., with Pastor Bubar officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, 5400 S. Kayla was born on October 19, 1993, to Robert & Deborah (Blankenship) Betker in St. Joseph. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and then continued her education at Twin City Beauty College where she earned a certificate in cosmetology. Kayla worked as a Customer Service Representative for Horizon Bank.
Kayla was known for her love of animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed being outside in the sun, going to the beach and gathering with friends and family. She was very knowledgeable of and passionate about wine, the winemaking process, and history.
Kayla is survived by her parents, Robert (Karen) Betker and Deborah (Kenneth) Gooch; sister Candace Ashcraft; step-siblings, Bethany Herman and Michael Melvoin; nephews, Dillon & Derek Backus; brother-in-law Lance Backus; grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
