I am at a loss to put into words my thoughts at this incredibly difficult time. Kathi's sudden passing floods my mind with ever so many special memories as the tears also flow.
We fell in love with her from our first meeting and were thrilled to welcome her into our family. It was clear Kathi and Roger had found their soulmates in each other and shared an incredibly deep connection and love that to few are fortunate enough to find. But she became so much more than an incredible sister-in-law. She became a very dear friend.
It's hard to imagine no more "marathon" phone calls catching upon our lives, sharing recipes and laughs as well as numerous dog stories! Highlights were going to visit Kathi and Roger in their homes as they moved with new job opportunities, experiencing new places like "their" Napa Valley and sipping wine together. Kathi's eye for needs, detail and decorative touches was nothing short of amazing! She was the complete package.....intelligent, professional, talented, loving, kind, caring and generous to a fault. A true angel on earth.
So as we try to process her passing and each of us grieve in our own way, may the joy she brought into all of our lives shine through and bring us peace. Let's choose to celebrate having gotten to share our lives with Kathi rather than focusing on the sadness of loss. She will live on in the hearts of all whose lives she touched!

Thank your for your kind words about Kathi and the bond you two had. She thought about you always and so enjoyed your marathon calls to just talk and share thoughts. She did enjoy our in person visits to the point that she always considered things to put in our homes that you would enjoy, and we referred to spaces as June and Marv's room.Recently we missed being able to travel to wine country with you and talked about that often. I miss her every day but your kind words and advice help remind me that I was better for the time we had.

Roger,
So sad to hear of Kathi’s passing. She was such an important part of our lives at PLS and our success in so many ways. She was smart, caring, and challenged us in our thinking - making us all better marketers. Peace to you and your family - cherish your memories.

Kathi made an immediate impression with the warmth and kindness she would exhibit in the 20+ years I knew her. Always thinking of others, she supported me as I grew up and started my own family and always generously made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable in their home and my own. I will always remember her extraordinary talent for interior design, including the magnificent Christmas decorations she displayed every year. Most of all, she was a perfect life partner for my dad, and she will be dearly missed. May her memory be a blessing.

Michael, you are right about the Christmas decorations. She was spectacular in her celebrations of the season, and every home we had , we had a "Santa Closet" as well. I do remember how involved she was in your apartment in DC and hope you have fond memories of finding it and getting it set up. She always wanted you to be comfortable and well set up.

Kathi was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She cared so much for the loved ones in her life. She will be sorely missed, and will always occupy a special place in my heart. I hope all of the the happy memories that you must have help to buoy your spirits during this most difficult time, Roger. Love, Mike

Dear Roger and Family,
I met Kathi at Leaf in the mid 90s as a young marketer and she had a big influence on my life. Kathi mentored me and taught me a lot while we worked together. I remember being invited to her home for a Team Christmas Party and I remember how beautiful and comfortable the house was. One thing that I will always be grateful for is that I remember her going to Leaf management to tell them to give me a raise when she heard how much I made! And they gave me the raise! Kathi was an amazing lady and it was an honor to know her.

Paul, thank you for your memory. It was so true that Kathi cared about her people and stood up for them. It did not surprise me to hear that she pushed for a raise! She had a lot of respect for you and we commented how its a small world since we lived in San Antonio for almost 8 years and now your business interests are there. Thank you again for your thoughts.

Kathi and I first met when she was a junior researcher at Heinz USA in Pittsburgh, and we have remained friends and collaborators over the 45+ years since.
I loved Kathi's keen intelligence, her delightful insights into the foibles of the human race, and her great sense of humor.
In the early days of our careers, we often traveled together to attend focus groups. On one of those trips, we caught a NYC taxi to race to the focus group facility in the suburbs. It was the most dangerous ride of our lives. The poor driver, a woman who did not speak a word of English, tried very hard to please us, so whatever we said to her evoked one of two reactions: slamming on the brakes to come to a complete stop in the middle of the freeway, or jamming the accelerator to the floor and weaving through traffic and 80 miles an hour. We finally made it to our groups in the suburbs, but neither of us ever again looked forward to a NYC taxi ride.
Kathi had a big heart, full of love and kindness, and many dear friends. She loved and cherished her dogs.
The happiest days of her life were those after she met and married Roger. They were meant to be.
Kathi, we will miss you. Godspeed.

Thanks Jerry.....what a great memory. That explains why we opted for Uber Black instead of a taxi for our trips! You were a great partner and mentor for her. I still remember she so wanted to introduce me to you early in our relationship. Almost as if she needed your approval. So thanks for the endorsement, as she made my life so enjoyable. I love her so and miss her more every day.

It was with both shock and great sadness that our family learned of Aunt Kathi’s passing. Kathi always seemed to have an intrinsic sense of what her loved ones might need in their lives before they knew it themselves. She looked for ways to help those she cared for in big ways and small, and her efforts made you feel special. She brought joy, love, and beauty to our lives and she will be missed.
Sending loving thoughts and prayers to Roger…

Melissa, thank you for your thoughts and sympathy. Your thoughts remind me of many things she did and some of the times we had together. She was always a step or two ahead of what people might be thinking or finding things people might need. You are so right. And she was so right for me in so many ways. I miss her so.

Today I learned about the death of my dear friend Kathi - I am in shock and not really believing she is gone. Kathi has been in my life for 47 years - she’s the first friend I made when I moved to Pgh for work. We were colleagues who became great friends. We shared so much, our careers, our marriages, divorces, children, the passing of our parents, so many challenges and so many blessings. She was the “Pgh Aunt “ for my daughters who often wished Kathi was their mom! We loved her.
Kathi was happiest when she met Roger - they were meant for each other and built a wonderful life together. Roger came to be part of my life and the girls life too - they were part of our family.
She was the kind of friend that checked on you, backed you up, remembered special days and was generous to a fault.
She and I shared tender times and raucous laughter where you can’t breathe and the tears are rolling. It was wonderful to have her as a friend for so many years.
Kathi you will be missed, I will think of you often and will miss our almost daily calls to catch up. We always ended our calls with the sweet “love you”.

Kathi, or as I’ve called her since I was a little girl, “Kath-I”, was a dear family friend to us since her days in Pittsburgh. She was like an aunt to me, always supportive, involved in all of my big life moments, and a beacon of reason and logic. Her elegant taste in interior design was only matched by her unbelievable organizational skills, and she could give Marie Kondo a run for her money any day. A superb hostess, we have spent many beautiful holidays together - memories I will always treasure. Roger and Kathi created a beautiful life and I was lucky to take part in it. May she Rest In Peace.

Eva, I do remember your fun expression of "Kath-eye" and the grins it would generate. She did see you at least as a niece, and recalled to me all the times she spent with you from your younger years up to the present. I was privileged to know you thru many life events including college graduation and several holidays with us and our families. Not to mention the pork rinds that Kathi would not eat! Thank you for your kind remarks.
