Great guy. I visited the Heathkit factory in Benton Harbor with a group of friends while on the way to the first ever Heath Users Group Convention in Chicago circa 1982. I was still in high school. Joe gave us a personal tour of the entire factory and offices and introduced us to most of the executives. He then invited us to his home for dinner. I remember it like it was yesterday. Such a kind and warm person. He influenced me to decide to make a career in electronics. Can't thank him enough.

Dear Janet & Family: My deepest condolences on your loss. I have so many great memories of working with and for Joe at VEC. Together we experienced fantastic growth of our retail operation and we traveled far and wide together to help the Heathkit business continue to expand. Joe always had a smile on his face, a kind word for all and was an upbeat individual who you wanted to be with. I valued his friendship and share in your sorrow. My prayers are with all of you. God's blessings.

Dear Jan, Wade and I want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have loved working with you and Joe over the years and when making design decisions I always loved it when we would ask Joe what he thought and he would always say… “what ever Jan would like”. A very caring person.
