Jason's Obituary

Jason Troy Pettet, 55 of South Haven passed away unexpectedly at his favorite place, Casco United Methodist Church on Saturday November 11, 2023. Born on October 11, 1968 in Holland, Michigan to Jack and Jeannie Pettet.

Visitation for Jason will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Filbrandt Chapel 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, November 20, 2023 at Casco United Methodist Church, 880 66th St. South haven, Michigan 49090, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Pastor Christina Fleming will officiate. Jason will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery.

Jason is survived by his parents; Jack and Jeannie Pettet, sister Renee Bond, brother, Christopher Pettet, niece Caroline Pettet, nephews Lance Bond, Alex Bond, Mason Bond, and Ryan Pettet. Brother-in-law Gregory Bond, nephew’s wife Kerri Bond and grand-nieces and nephews, Jackson, Tyli, Levi, Caden, and Dakota. Close friends Bryan Heisler, Sean Russell, Brian Davis, Mike Hostetler, and Rob Behncke. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and many other friends.

Jason worked as an acupuncturist, healing patients across southwest Michigan for more than 30 years. He became an Eagle Scout in 1985 and throughout his life, would remain an active member of the Boy Scout community as a troop leader. Jason was a certified scuba diver, a skill he used to assist in the recovery of a local shipwreck, the Rockaway (housed at the South Haven Maritime Museum.) He also loved dragon boat racing and tinkering on heavy machinery. Jason was a lifelong member of Casco United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully for decades as the sound technician. He was the founder of the CUMC Mud Run and for its entire lifetime, was its primary organizer. Steadfast and strong in his faith, he lived his life serving Christ and seeing God’s hand in everything around him. Truly, he will be irreplaceable, and he will surely be missed.
