Gregory Phillip Hanson, beloved husband, father, and friend passed peacefully at Hanson Hospice Center on July 13, 2023.
He was born in South Bend, Indiana on February 2, 1952 to Merlin and Mary Alice Hanson. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1970 then continued his education at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 1974. It was there he met his beautiful bride, Connie and together they raised two sons, Justin and Nick. Throughout his life, Greg loved boating, spending time with family and friends, traveling, enjoying companionship of his dogs, but mostly, Greg had a passion for golf. He was a driven and dedicated business man and served as CEO of Hanson Group and helped his father, Merlin, create several local businesses and build countless friendships along the way.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family that day from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Connie Hanson; sons, Justin Hanson (Alisa), Nick Hanson (Tyler); grandchildren, who Greg loved dearly, Brooks and Beckett Hanson; and dogs, Baxter and Bentley. Also survived by siblings, Gail (Tom) Mathews, Deb (Jay) Craig, and Scott (Laurie) Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Mary Alice Hanson.
