We became friends with Jerry and Katy in northern Michigan twenty years ago. They were always the most cheerful and fun couple we knew. Our deepest sympathy to Katy and family in the loss of your beloved Jerry. I’ll never forget the fun my mother had having tea with Jerry! He was a gem. Until we meet again Rest In Peace.

I met John when I assisted him while he coached the Elk’s softball team his son played on. He was one of those people that looked only for the good in everyone and everything. He was the happiest, nicest, kindest man and was a great source of inspiration to all those young softball players he coached. I am very certain he was the same inspiration to everyone else he met as he moved through life. A good man is gone.

I send you and your loved ones my sincere condolences with the tragic loss of Jerry. No words found here. I can only be with good thoughts with you all there. It was in the 1950s that we as “sand rabbits” by the “Lake” became friends. When I came back to St. Joe over the years, Jerry and I would meet and talk of those “good old” days. He would always say that on most days he would drive by the lake to see it again and again and again. The lake with tilt of wave and music of it, of shore and mystifying lights upon the sunset waters and the windings of the St Joe River to meet the waiting amplitude of horizonless waves. God’s perpetual mercy is that beauty is customary; but in some place’s beauties do as stars do in certain spaces of the skies—they cluster. Lake Michigan waters are such.
