Gary E. Best,78, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home.
Military Rites will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012, at 1:00PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Gary was born to Thomas & Edith (May) Best on July 30, 1945, in Pontiac, MI. Gary proudly served his country by enlisting in the Marine Corp on December 19, 1962. He served two tours of Vietnam 65-67 and was in the second Battalion 7th Marine. Gary was a proud Marine and loved his country.
After being honorably discharged in 1968, Gary worked for Ford Motor Company for 19 years and was a partner starting up three different plastic companies that dealt with car parts.
He is survived by the love of his life Kathy Ruff who he lived with for the last 25 years; children Courtney Best, Carah Best Taylor, and Taylor Best; Kathy’s children: Dawn & Brian Street, Brandon & Nicole Langston and Katie & Nick Hunt; 15 Grandchildre; 5 great grandchildren; and his best friend and service dog Macy.
Gary was preceded in in death by his parents; two brothers Donald and Thomas Best; sister Pauline; son Aaron Best; and a grandson Andrew Hunt.
