Elda Ann Sarno, 91 of Covert passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Laurel Oaks in South Haven Michigan. Born March 2, 1932 in Hartford, Michigan to Ned and Phyllis Winslow. United in marriage to the late Jerry James Sarno on May 9, 1953.

Elda is survived by her children; Ann LaSotta, Gerald (Laura) Sarno, Janice (Ted) Witkowski, grandchildren; James Sarno, Jennifer (Josh) Badgley, Jon LaSotta, Andrew (Anna) Sarno, Matthew (Ashley) Witkowski, Leah Witkowski and Anthony Sarno. Also survived by 10 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 51 years, Jerry Sarno and brothers; Charles Winslow and Leland Winslow.

Elda started school in a one room country school in Covert Township called Hawley, there were 50 kids attending and the school went to the 7th grade. In Eighth grade she rode the bus to Covert to attend school and it was there during her high school years that she met her husband to be, Jerry Sarno, who graduated in 1945. Elda graduated from Covert High School in 1950. After graduation she went to work, because college was too expensive. Things became serious with Jerry Sarno and they married in May of 1953. Together they raised three children on the Sarno family fruit farm. Elda was the helpmate to Jerry on the farm. Cooking and baking were her specialty, especially her breads, rolls and cherry pie. She spent a lot of time catering for the Lake Michigan Catholic Schools Band Boosters. Family meant the world to Elda; she loved hosting reunions on the farm. Elda and Jerry were snowbirds in their later years and spent winters in their Florida home. The farm was sold in 2004 and they built a brand-new home, where Elda lived until 2017. Elda is described as a wonderful loving, amazing, mother, friend and sister. Her favorite time of year being Christmas, she decorated every inch of the family home while listening to Andy Williams Christmas songs. She is absolutely irreplaceable and will be forever missed.
