Ed's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday November 11, 2022 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Mother Jan Hosea officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, with military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Ed was born October 16, 1927 in Benton Harbor to Arthur & Ora (Kniebes) Aber. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1945. Ed gained employment with V-M Corp. in Benton Harbor for two years before joining the staff at the Benton Harbor Post Office. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was proud to be a Korean War Veteran. Following his time in the Army, Ed returned home to the Benton Harbor Post Office and on February 27, 1960, he married the former Bonnie Prince in Benton Harbor. Ed retired in 1992 as supervisor after forty-three years of service. He loved people and enjoyed everyone he met at the stamp window. Ed was a member of the Berrien Federal Employee Credit Union where he served as the assistant treasurer, and also served as the treasurer of the Postal Union. Ed served as a coach and manager for the Fairplain Little League for eight years. He enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, watching sports and rooting for his Detroit sports teams-the Tigers, Lions, Pistons & Red Wings, his life-long favorites.
Ed is survived by his wife Bonnie; two children-Sandra (Henry) Mason of St. Joseph & Gary (Donita) Aber of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
