Coach Watson took me under his wings when I arrived at Wiley College and was a father figure and mentor to many of us. He was more than just a coach and I learned A LOT from him. I have been running one of his main offenses ‘BABY’ since I started coaching. Coach Watson was a GREAT man and the coolest Kappa I ever met. I’m thankful to have known him.

Coach Watson was a person you could go to with any problem or situation. He my have given a lecture from hell, but he was there for to help you through it. Rest in peace! Your legacy will continue through all of the students you coached and mentored.

Coach Watson was a great coach/mentor. He was a very passionate track coach, and kind to everyone. I was saddened by the news of his passing, but it will never take away from his legacy that will live on. Wishing the Watson family comfort and peace during this difficult time.

To the Watson Family and friends, please accept Evelia’s and my condolences and prayers. We share your loss, your pain and your sorrow, and I’ve lost a very good friend. Eddie and I have been friends most of our lives --- we go way back. In fact, our close friendship started in kindergarten and extended through elementary and high school. Regrettably upon graduation, life took both of us on very different journeys. We lost contact over time but never the fond memories, and after an almost 40 year hiatus, we reconnected. Please know that Eddie leaves one hell of a positive legacy through his many years teaching, coaching and his art. In spite of his many successes, he also never forgot his roots. He brightened and touched the lives of many common folks with his friendship. He will be missed and we will be sad, yet, he will be remembered with great fondness and his legacy will live on forever. RIP my good friend!!! John & Evelia Horn

Coach Watson was more than a coach, although I was raised with my father in my home, coach Watson was many of our bonus fathers!!! He made sure that we had everything we needed and wanted his Angels to experience things that we never imagined as a high schooler! He took us on a yacht that was owned by a friend! We didn’t know how to enjoy but he made sure we were okay! There were many times we conversed when he was in Texas, often we spoke on taking the sign down of our state championship! It actually came up missing and I don’t have it!!!!! Lol. This is truly a great loss to me! I know that I will see you again coach!!! Love you always!!!

Rest in Peace Coach, Although we never made it to that track championship I passed along all the knowledge you gave and all three of my girls were conference and state champions.
