Donna's Obituary
Donna Marie Vorel, 80, of Michigan City, IN, passed away at the Franciscan Health Center in Michigan City on Wednesday-Sept. 28, 2022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Donna was born in Chicago, IL on January 19, 1942 to the late Joseph and Marie (Birosak) Charvat. She was a 1960 graduate of New Buffalo High School. She lived in this area until 1976 and then moved out to Phoenix, AZ until her return in 2004. While in AZ she was a member of the Toastmaster’s Club and a volunteer usher at the Civic Theater. Here in Michigan City Donna was a parent volunteer at the Palidan home where she served children, seniors and persons with disabilities. She loved to travel and spending time with family and friends.
Donna is survived by her beloved son-Douglas who lived with her in Michigan City; sister-Marianne Rabe of New Buffalo; nephew-Bruce Rabe; nieces-Patricia O’Rourke and Theresa Baker; and special friends Jeff Ginther and Lou Macaluso.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday-October 3, 12:00pm (EDT), at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Visitation precedes the service from 11:00am-12:00pm (EDT) at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Memorial contributions may be made to Palidan Inc. @ 4315 E. Michigan Blvd, Michigan City, IN 46360 or to the American Cancer Society.
