Dear Herter Family, It was an honor and privilege to care for Don during my time in Dowagiac. He was a living and breathing testament of human kindness, dedication and integrity. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

As a person in the buiding trade, I have known Don for many years. He was always a good and fair man and I will surly miss him.

I had met Don only one time. It was at the board meeting for a building permit. We talked, not all that long, but have shared memories of the times we have lived through and that I have know and admired the work of his son, Rick. It was only a little later I had occasion to telephone Don with a question. He answered my query quickly and completely, then we just talked. It seems we talked for a very long time but that time passed quickly, too quickly. We shared many memories and experiences. I quickly developed a real like and respect for this gentleman. He was a true Christian gentle man and a Gentleman. We never talked after that and mores the shame for me. God Speed Sir and I know that you are reunited with the love of your life and companion for so many years. Both are now safe in the Arms of Christ.
