Christine's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Christine here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
Christine was devoted to the welfare of children, and was especially passionate about their development as readers. She believed that children need books of their own, so deeply that she financed a program that let us go each week to do storytimes with teen moms and their children, and made sure all of the young families had bags with all of our storytime books to keep. In our last conversation, she was trying to think of ways to get lightweight, durable books to children in homeless camps. Her energy and compassion seemed limitless, and it was a privilege to know her. Deepest sympathy to her friends and family during this time of grief.

When Christine's mother, Dorothy, lived and worked in Stevensville, my husband, Tom, worked for her. Christine's interest in genealogy is shared by my family, too. Sincere condolences to Jennifer and her family.

I always enjoyed Ladies' Library Association meetings with Christine, even though we were talking about finances and investments. She often invited our committee to her lovely home. Once I tried driving to her condo in the dark and just could not figure out the street names or numbers on the dark streets of the condo development. I called Christine and she stood outside swinging a flashlight for me as a beacon, so I could find her place! I admired Christine's strong spirit, artistic talent and sense of humor. Wishing peace and comfort to her family.

Christine was a faithful member of the Ladies' Library Association in Kalamazoo since 2007. She volunteered in many capacities and her lovely smile made her a joy to be around. We will miss her and are grateful to have known her. With deepest sympathy, Grace Anne Kalafut LLA President
