Charlie was born August 8, 1928 in Stevensville to Charles, Sr. & Margaret (Pitt) Ott. He graduated from Andrew’s High School in Berrien Springs. On February 23, 1948, he married the former Evelyn Klackle in St. Joseph. Charlie started his working career with Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 1973 after thirty years. He then took over his grandfather’s grape vineyard in Baroda, which has now been in the family nearly one hundred years.
Charlie was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. He enjoyed tending to his yard and watching and feeding the birds. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling together to visit their son Richard and the mountains of Colorado. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and the beauty of nature.
Charlie is survived by his two sons-Ronald Ott of Baroda, Richard (Evelyn) Ott of Meeker, CO; four grandchildren-Katie (Timothy) Palomo, Tyrone (Amanda) Ott, Amber (Wade) Shults, Amy (Oran) Rundberg; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn on October 25, 2013, his son Robert in 1968, and a granddaughter Rachel Ott.
