Uncle Phillip, I am so sad that you left but Happy you are with the Lord now. I remember as a child you use to pick us up and tickle all of your nieces and nephews so hard that we cried lol. I am happy I got a chance to come see you before you departed. We laughed and talked and had a good conversation. You were even taking about the weather and your western television shows.. You were such a great fisherman, a dedicated South Haven Ram Fan and very helpful to grandma. I asked you if you knew the Lord and knew what Heaven was like and you did not hesitate to say yes boldly. We will miss you dearly this is see you later and not goodbye. We Love you dearly. It was an honor to have known Charles. A joyous soul who loved life...and everyone he met. He washed our windows at Hales many times and did the best job!! Always was giving me the weather report...and tips on upcoming sports events. Rest In Peace my friend.

Charles was a natural fisherman. He always caught fish when others didn't. If you asked him why you were not catching any he would say "you are not holding your mouth right!" When we saw each other downtown when I worked at McKimmies he would always say "what's up brother, brother?" I would say not much "brother, brother!" Rest in the Joy of Heaven by brother!

When I worked downtown you could always count on running into Charles. He always had a smile and kind words. He was very serious about making his own way and never turned down a job-a very hard worker!! He will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are sent to the family!

I remember Charles from school. We used to call each other “Charlie” and “Charley” and joke about our names. We shoveled and did odd jobs for various neighbors as pre-teens, and would sometimes get a donut at the bakery together. He was always a positive uplifting soul. I’ sorry for your loss.

I remember several years ago Charles used to go into Phoenix Street Cafe early in the morning when I was there. He was a sweet man. And he loved Terri DeBoer who was the meteorologist on Channel 8. From listening to her, he could always tell us what the weather would be.
