Carolyn's Obituary
Carolyn Ruth Marr of South Haven, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.
A visitation will take place at Filbrandt Chapel, South Haven on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10a-11a. A Celebration of Life memorial service will follow at 11a. Pastor Gary Guthrie of South Haven Community Church will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date at McDowell Cemetery, South Haven.
Carolyn was born on April 13, 1955 in South Haven to the late Cornelius “Bill” and Ruby Madelyn (Lockwood) French. On June 8, 1974 she married her high school sweetheart, John William Marr, in South Haven. Together they have 2 children, “John Paul” (Christine) Marr and Jennifer Ann (Ritchie) Zmuda, all of South Haven. They survive along with grandchildren, Dylan and Colin Zmuda, Vance “Skid” Moudy II, Abby “Nicki” Ferguson and 1 great-grandson, Clay Moudy.
Carolyn also leaves behind a sister, Deborah Nook, Fort Collins, Colorado, a brother, Barry (Kathy) French of South Haven and special family, cousin, Karen Crouch and nephew, Nick Galecki, and dear friends, Sandra and Vickie. The list of all of her family and friends is too long to mention each individually.
Besides her parents, she is also preceded by a sister Nancy Lockwood Jones. Carolyn went to L.C. Mohr High School in South Haven, graduating class of 1974. She went on to attended Lake Michigan College where she received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught pre-school for over 17 years in South Haven. She volunteered most recently at Senior Services of Van Buren County. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, baking and traveling to the Rockies where her sister, Deborah, lives. Carolyn grew up in the Lacota United Methodist Church where she still kept her membership.
