Met Tom in high school, and we were teammates at work. He was quiet, unassuming, but remarkable in his concentration, loyalty, positive attitude and caring. Bright and inquisitive, he enjoyed real life and a wonderful marriage.

Dear Georgia and family...sorry to read about Tom's death. What a solid man. And what a solid marriage you shared. It was always a comfort to run into the two of you in South Haven. You always represented the last of the Mohicans on Monroe Blvd. (sigh and a smile) God bless you. May comfort return to you as a caring community shares their memories.

Tom was one of the first neighbors that I met when I first moved to South Haven. I looked forward to each of our encounters. He was a wealth of historical information and genuinely proud of his community. Ill miss our brief chats, and Ill never forget Tom.

Though I was a young child when we lived in South Haven, I remember you both. I also remember pug dogs. I think Aunt Alice had them. So sorry for your loss. Both of you were always kind. I will keep you in my prayers.

Tom was a real gentleman. While I did not run into Tom a great deal after high school graduation, I have enjoyed the times we were able to discuss life, the books that we both enjoyed, and some of the challenges and rewards of life. I had hoped to see him last month when I was in South Haven, but he emailed me to let me know that he was not feeling well. I then held out hope that we could get together perhaps next spring, when I am scheduled to visit closer to where he lived. ... But, that is not going to happen. All I can say is that Tom was a good, thoughtful and kind man. It was an honor to have gone to high school with him, and to have had the opportunity to know him as an adult. He will be missed. --Michael Carrier

Georgia, Dick, and Scoot..I was totally shocked to read of Tommys passing. Just now saw the posting. Our hearts and prayers go out to you all. One of the downsides of living in Georgia is news such as this. He will always be remembered as a true friend for all those great times we shared together while growing up in the Haven. Rest In Peace my friend.

Judy Davis My condolences to your family. I have many memories of the years we were neighbors - the sled run in your back yard. the time Tom ( I think) won the baby blue Mustang. Those years were good and I remember the Yurkinas family as ;good friends and neighbors. My thoughts are with you.
