I remember Dick, Anne, Marian and Rev. Harold having coffee mornings at Big Boy. I would join them on occasion. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sparring with Dick. May he soar with the Angels and rejoice in Heaven.

One of the friendliest family and community members, Harold was always genuine, helpful, and connected. He showed up when life was difficult. He was cheerful even when he was having a difficult time. I will miss him. RIP, "cousin"!

I have many stories to share about Pastor Harold and how he touched the hearts of my family. With that being said, I'll just share the one that he Inspired our faith in God the most. It was four years ago today, are granddaughter needed her third surgery within a nine day period at the 'Spectrum Butterworth Children's Hospital.' I'll never forget that warmth of his Spiritual energy, when I looked up and witnessed an unsteady man and looking like Pastor Harold walking toward us. He was un steady on his feet, only because he was personally going through health Issues himself, at the age of 86. Wow, the power of his energy he shared that day, as he said a prayer for our beautiful granddaughter, that lifted the spirits deep in our hearts with more faith in God. Thank you Pastor Harold, you truly will be missed. Always, Guy Stinson and family

Dee’s folks (Betty & Wig) first got to know Harold and Marian when he preached at the Gobles UMC. We’ve remained in touch with them. Harold was always so joyful and we loved to hear both he & Marian rejoice in song. We saw him preach at Glenn and he still had his natural ability. He was definitely born to preach! It was always wonderful to spend time with them both. Our heart goes out to Marian and the family on the loss of this wonderful man. Diane Corradini & Dee Clement.

I first met Harold when he was pastor at a church in Holland and I was secretary at another church accross the street. He introduced himself to me as "Happy Hal". I never forgot that and was happily surprised to find him in South Haven years later. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy on this loss to the entire Filbrandt family. It was Ron's and my great pleasure to serve at a church that had Harold and Marian as members. As I recall, Rev Filbrandt had known Ron's dad well and Ron was delighted to be reminded of that connection. We have the incredible comfort of knowing that our loved ones are now in the best of hands and truly at peace. You all are in my prayers.

So sorry to learn of Harold’s passing. Our sincere condolences to Marian, his children, grandchildren, and other family members. Our family got to know “Happy Hal” when he was pastor of First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, MI. For a time I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him in youth ministry there. He was a wonderful spiritual leader and a friend. I have to say he was a blessing to our family and will always be remembered fondly. Donna Dumke

i am so sorry to hear of Harold's passing and my thoughts are with Marian, Jeff and the rest of your family. When my Mom and I visited their home in South Haven on different occasions he would show us his beautiful garden and one section was the Victory Garden. I also loved looking at his wonderful collection of calendars which were varied and many. Harold was always there for our family and always a blessing to us. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kindnesses to others.

Marian, Jeff and family - Our thoughts are with you and we're sending you strength through prayer during this difficult time. We have many good memories of Hal from the Marshall, Michigan days. Seeing him create and work with such pride in his bicentennial garden, and collect and organize his beloved calendar collection are just a couple. As his collection grew, I remember Jeff and I would often have to move some of the calendars off the ping pong table so we could play a game in the basement. He was a warm and kind man and a spiritual leader for so many. He'll be missed. Love to all the Filbrandts. - Scott & Suzi Hodoval

I have so many fond memories as a kid of coming to visit by car ferry, going with Harold to a farm market and touring the country side with you folks in that far off land of Michigan. I can still picture your wedding on that hot August day with the ice cream melting in Fellowship hall. Our prayers are with you and your family as God welcomes one of his servants into his kingdom.

Bless you, Marian. I knew Harold probably longer than anyone else still alive. Met him when I was 12, picking strawberries at a nearby farm. Harold and his sister Annie used to pick me up for church on sundays. And after all, Harold married me, twice! Once to Louie Fountain when he was pastor in St. Joe, doing his memorial service 28 years later. To Chuck, 6 years ago in Glenn.

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Harold's passing upon our return from Florida on May 4. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Marian and the family. Harold had a profound influence in helping me discern my call to ministry. When I thought of the kind of pastor God wanted me to be I thought of Harold with his kind, gentle, hopeful, and positive spirit. Harold was our pastor during my high school years in Frankfort. He stood by my family when my father lost his job. He stood by me years later when I had the same experience. He was my choice to stand with me at the moment of my ordination. Marion and Harold comforted me following the death of my wife Terry. Harold was the presence of Christ for me, my family and countless others who were blessed by his pastoral gifts. Praise God for the life of Rev. Harold Filbrandt.
