Oh, I was driving down 6th and saw all the cars.... and thought that this was a sad day. When we lived on 6th Gene and Gary would chat a lot. He was a very special neighbor!

To the entire Decker family, Gene will be missed. May the memories of a Gene and the man he was make these times a bit easier. I always enjoyed the visits he and I had over the years in my office. He was a pleasure to help.

Theresa, Bo, Lisa, and Pam, my love to you all. Lots of memories growing up with you all, and watching Lisa grow up! I remember our trip to Arkansas with your mom & dad, crickets in the back of the truck...Trying to remember all of your cousins names, Lucky, Winston, Salem...LOL. You each have a special place in heart, and always will. I glad your dad is no longer suffering, I'm glad you were all there with him. I hope you find peace knowing that he loved you all, through think and thin. Hold those memories close to your heart. Deb

Bo, Crystal & family, I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed hearing about your dad/pawpaw through your stories in class, or on facebook. Thinking of you during this difficult time and sending love your way.

I only know a few of you and didn’t know Gene, but he must have been a great guy to have you. Pam, Tim was as dear to me as my own kids and I still think of him often. He sure was proud of the pickup his dad restored. Helen, we only met a few times, but I’m glad to have known you. Theresa, I enjoyed your singing. Had no idea you were Tim’s sister. Love you all. It didn't matter whether it was Ross, Cheri, Jack, or Danny on blueberry pick-up patrol, we all loved to see Gene come out to the field and "supervise" for awhile. It meant a little downtime in the shade while we listened to a story or three, and he often had a Gatorade to share. I can see him so clearly - popping a few berries in his mouth to check their quality - and it was a real reward to hear, "Hey! These are all right!" This type of man, who believed the best way to love his family was to work hard and long for them, sometimes missing family time in the quest to provide, is becoming a rarity as we lose them to aging and death. We honor and respect Gene's work ethic, and also feel relief that he had good family time as his health declined. Sending love and peace to all the family. Ross, Cheri, Jack, and Danny Stein

I believe there is one good thing that came from the "Rona"!!' I was just able to attend the funeral of my best friend's father. (that happened 54 years ago and we have weathered many storms together!) I was devastated that I couldn't be there by her side. What a blessing that the funeral home provided a live feed for me to see online!!! Thank you so much Filbrandt Family Funeral Home for allowing me to attend, even though I am here in Florida!!
