Judy's passing diminishes both Kalamazoo and South Haven. I have known her since childhood. In addition to all of her amazing work in the community, she was a wonderful friend to many many people. When I was going through a particularly painful time she and Alan invited me for dinner "just to talk." It greatly diminished my pain. I have known many great people in my life but none with a purer heart. We are so sorry Alan.

Judi and I were school girlfriends at Parkwood Elementary School, South Junior and Kalamazoo Central High School. Along with many friends, we share good times together. Long after graduation, Judi and Alan hosted a group of us at their home when we got together during KCHS reunions of the class of '59. I send heartfelt condolences to Alan, Gene, Andy and to Josh and Amy. Nancy Newman Eustis

Alan and family, While distance keeps us from grieving in person with you, please know that you and your family are in the California Races’ thoughts and prayers. We will miss Judi too. From the moment we met and every time since, she was always so gracious, loving and warm to our family. She will be missed.

Every time I encountered Judy, I knew I'd leave the encounter with a smile on both my face & heart. She was always that kind of person. Those of us who knew Judy are better people because of her friendship. And, this world is a bit of a better place because of her.

Alan, Colette and I were so sorry to hear about Judi. We know how much you meant to each other and how difficult it must have been for both of you to struggle through her illness. We will remember Judi for her kindness and ever present smile.

Although we only met Judith several times, she was, and will remain, a meaningful part of our lives; we live in her late parents' former home and she and her husband were dear friends of Gary's late brother as well as legal counsel for Gary's late parents. For years, each time we have boated past her South Haven home, we would think of her genuine smile and hope she was doing well. Today, on our way down the Black River, we saw a gathering on her deck in front of Legacy. With apprehension we Googled her name and with tremendous sorrow, saw her obituary. Our thoughts go out to, Alan, and the rest of her family. We will always remember the comforting role her warmth, generosity and kindness played in our lives. Sincerely, Gary Snapper and Nicole Boxer.

Alan, I am so very sad about Judi. She was the kindest most caring person I have ever met. Her positive outlook on life was so refreshing....I always felt better after chatting with her. Both of you made life easier for Jim and I. My heart goes out to your whole family...I will miss her so much. Memories of her will always be with me.

I only saw Judi and Alan occasionally once we all moved away, but it was always as if we'd just seen each other yesterday. She was such a warm, accepting person, and i hold her dear in my heart. We had some very meaningful talks together that i cherish. My condolences to the whole family.

When we think of Judi, we think of Kalamazoo and the eight years we spent there. She made it home for us- she was there for the births of our three children. Then we got lucky- we moved to Florida and she and Alan wintered an hour away from us- the love continued. What an impact she had on all of our lives. Thank you, Alan, Amy and Josh for sharing her with all of us. Nancy and Richard Maza

Dear Alan, Please know how that Judi's contributions will last for years to come. I remember meeting both of you when I came to Kalamazoo and always appreciated her upbeat smile and enthusiasm for so many causes. In recent years, running into her in South Haven was a special treat. My condolences to your entire family.

To Alan and the Family, Judi will be widely remembered as being caring and thoughtful, and for having that beautiful white hair (from an early age) and a warm and ready smile. She made a difference in the lives of many people.

I joined up with the Nancy Eustis group in Jr. High. It was a good group, but my life in Italy kept me from getting closer to Judi. So, I will write to her: Dear Judi, if I had stayed here, South Haven would have attracted me and Alfredo. With his passing I returned to live in Kalamazoo, a place I love -- and I love hearing about you. Your smile and energy seem to be the same as in your picture. Know you are loved even if you can not be seen in person -- there is so much to see in your photo... Jean vanHaaften DiMarino
