Forrest's Obituary

Forrest G. Pettis, 81, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 peacefully at home.   He was born May 27, 1938 to Clifton Forrest and Natalie (Smith) Pettis in Pontiac, MI.   Forrest married Carolyn Hunt on August 26, 1960 in Bangor, MI.   Forrest graduated from South Haven High School in 1967.   He worked at Everett Piano for thirty years. He also attended Lake Michigan College and worked as a park ranger for the DNR at the Van Buren State Park.  Forrest decided he was bored with retirement and concluded his working career at the Wal-Mart Sporting Goods Dept.  Forrest loved to write music and poetry.  Some of his poems are pending copyrighting.  He played the guitar and piano.  He enjoyed woodworking and sketching.

Forrest is survived by his wife – Carolyn of South Haven; children- Jodi (Barney) Pero, South Haven, MI, and Jacquelyn (Ronald) King, Pullman, MI, grandchildren – Dylan Forrest Pero, Jake (Brittany) T. Pero, Joshua King and Sierrah King; great grandchildren – Sophia Pero, and Liam Winter Pero.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 8 from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.  Graveside service will take place on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township with Pastor Steve Starks officiating. Contributions may be made in Forrest’s memory to the Al Van Humane Society, PO Box 421, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
