I am so saddened by Gerry's passing. He and his whole family were treasured neighbors for many years. He is more like family than friend and neighbor. My heart goes out to Bev, Diane and Dan. Your dad's passing certainly marks an end to an era.

What a wonderful legacy Mr. Sherman has left us. Folks may not have known him but they knew his name and the joy that the simple pleasure of enjoying ice cream brought to so many. Obviously there is so much more to this man but I keep thinking of the fun and joy, seeing little kids walk out of Sherman's, their eyes growing as they saw their treats. What a wonderful gift to leave the community and so many more. Thank you Diane and the Sherman family for sharing your dad with us.

Beverly,Dan and Diane I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad passing away. Such a wonderful man. Brings back a lot of childhood memories Lynn and I playing at your house. Always so welcomed by both your Mom and Dad. Your Dad being my first boss and his patience with a punk 15 year old. He taught me a lot of life lessons for sure. Keep all your memories of him as I surely will keep mine. Prayers go out to you all.

May our love and prayers surround you Bev, Dan and Diane and your families. Your father’s greatest legacy is of course his and your mom’s fabulous family. But what he has done for our hometown is immeasurable. The happiness Sherman Dairy has brought to generation after generation can never be topped. I’m sure he and you mom are playing a round of golf followed by a pigs dinner! Love to all of you.

Our parents were good friends for many decades and our dads spent more time together after their wives passed away. Gerry was such a class act. He is about the last of that Grestest Generation in South Haven. He, along with all of them, are sorely missed.

Diane, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He was adored by all of us at the Senior Center for his positive upbeat attitude. I would ask him every day how his lunch was and he always said it was wonderful:) Even on days when I'm sure he didn't like what was being served. What an incredibly sweet man and what an incredible loss for all of your family and the community of South Haven. Hugs, Diane Rigozzi

I would like to express my sympathies to the Sherman Family. Whenever Mr. Sherman came into pay the electric Bill's, he always had a smile and very friendly. I used to always compliment the butter pecan ice cream and how I couldn't try any other flavors, he would always laugh that half smile. He is with his spouse now. GOD bless you and family.

Dear Bev, Dan, Diane and your entire family, So sad to hear that South Haven and St Basil lost pretty much the last of the greatest generation. I had the privilege of learning how to scoop an ice cream cone from your dad. He was a great boss, a kind and gentle man. My parents thought so highly of both of your parents. Bless you all in your sadness. Julie Kowieski Todd

My Dear Cousins, Dan, Bev and Diane, Your precious Daddy was always my favorite Uncle. I used to spend time every summer in South Haven with Aunt Margo and Uncle Gerry before any of you were born! Uncle Gerry taught me how to play badminton and drive a tractor. I always loved eating Sherman Dairy icecream with Uncle Gerry. He would always give me a big bowl. That was before the Dairy Bar was built. He always told me how wonderful his wife was and how much he loved her. Then he would give her a big juicy kiss and she would always say: "Gerald!" With a big grin on her face. I'm looking forward to seeing him in Heaven someday! I love you dear Cousins. Becky Wretlind❤️

One of South Haven's finest has departed our midst. If the City of South Haven had ever decided to select an ambassador to represent the goodness in our city, it would have been Gerry Sherman. I pray that all members of the Sherman family will find peace and solace in the Promise of the Resurrection.
