Dorothy J. Powers

Dorothy J. Powers, 94, formerly of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away, Sunday, July 11, 2021 at A Place Called Home in Stevensville, Michigan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 15 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, Michigan with Priest Cluster officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, Michigan. Memorial donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. On October 20, 1947 she married Gideon McAndrew. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1958. On June 15, 1962 she married Sherlock Powers. Dorothy was employed for thirty-plus years at Paramount Die Casting in Stevensville, Michigan. Dorothy was a member of New Apostolic Church in St. Joseph, Michigan where she was a choir member along with many other activities. She was very proud of the fact that she graduated from Lakeshore Adult Education in 1987. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and many friends. Dorothy is survived by her children-Linda (Carl) Ochs of Bridgman, Michigan, Ven (Kathleen) McAndrew of St. Joseph, Michigan; two grandchildren-Emily McAndrew & Stephen (Hope) McAndrew; great-granddaughter Natalie McAndrew, great-grandson due in September; and numerous nieces & nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her second husband Sherlock Powers in 2013, and by several brothers and sisters.
