Harry's Obituary

Harry Miller, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Spectrum Lakeland Health. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 12PM, at Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, 635 St. Joseph Ave., Berrien Springs, with Pastor Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10AM until time of service on Friday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Harry was born on March 11, 1943, to Thaddeus & Frieda (Wollner) Miller in Lodz, Poland. At the age of 6 he and his family immigrated to Michigan. He graduated from St Joseph High School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army before being honorably discharged. Harry worked for Whirlpool Corporation as a Dryer Engineer for over 35 years before retirement. In October, 1990, Harry married Sharon Warren in Berrien Springs. Harry was known for his servant heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to assist family and friends with home and landscaping projects. Make-A-Wish Michigan was very dear to him. For the past 31 years he would ride his bike 300 miles in 3 days to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Michigan and over all, he raised over a quarter of a million dollars. Harry was also very active at the Village Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he was an elder and volunteered in multiple capacities. Harry and Sharon participated in dozens of international mission trips through Maranatha International and the Village SDA church. Harry enjoyed going camping and fishing, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and he especially enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. Harry is survived by his wife Sharon Miller; children Denise Miller of Plainwell, MI, Andrea (Q) Miller of North Pole AK, Sherry (Steve) Naumann of Bloomfield IN, Dawn (Brian) Mutz of Bridgman, MI, Lori (Jay) Darling of Frankfort, MI. Grandchildren include Zachary Van Sweden, Matthew (Nikki) Naumann, Michelle (Nic) Cox, Brenden Mutz, Ryan Mutz, TJ Darling, Luke (Selika) Darling, Wil Darling, Seth Darling, 5 great-grandchildren, and former wife, Ruth Miller. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus & Frieda Miller; and half-brother Juergen Johannes Golz.
