Cody's Obituary

Cody Yergeau, 27, of St. Joseph, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at a place he loved to spend all of his time, the beach. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 with the visitation beginning at 9 AM and service at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Mike Gathright officiating. Out of respect for the family and guests in attendance, masks and social distancing will be required. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Cody was born on September 20, 1993, in St. Joseph, to Ken & Jannette (Miller) Yergeau. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 2012 where he loved being a member of the track team and participating in DECA under his favorite teacher, Mrs. Tonya Jahnke. Along with his sister, Courtney, he was a beloved part of the Silver Beach Pizza family for almost 12 years. He was known as the jack-of-all-trades and adored by both his co-workers and customers. When he wasn’t working, you could find Cody at the golf course, out on the lake kayaking, or snowboarding. Cody’s most favorite place of all was the beach. He grew up on the lake spending weekends jet skiing and swimming with his entire family. He enjoyed heading to 2nd Street beach with his friends to hang out and relax. Cody loved his family so much and taking care of other people came naturally to him. As the only grandson, he took especially great care of his 91-year-old grandfather. He loved spending time with his four nieces and nephews and was their most favorite uncle. He was especially looking forward to celebrating his mother’s birthday at Grande Mere Inn later this month and going on a fishing trip with his dad, uncle, and brother-in-law in May. Cody left an indelible imprint on everyone he met. He possessed a unique combination of good traits: a consistent positive attitude, a genuine interest and concern for problems of others, unfailing loyalty to family and friends, and an unwavering commitment of availability for anyone he encountered in need of help. Cody is survived by his parents, Ken Yergeau of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Jannette Yergeau of St. Joseph; sisters, Ashley (David) Warren and Courtney Yergeau both of St. Joseph; nieces and nephews, Lyla, Teddy, Beatrice, and Jack Warren; grandparents, Don & Judy Miller of Stevensville and Joe (Barb) Yergeau & Elaine Dearborn of Portsmouth, NH; aunts and uncles, Diane (John) Anstey of St. Joseph and Lisa (Vic) Vroegop of Stevensville; and cousins, Annie and Katie Anstey and Becca and Rachel Vroegop. Additionally, Cody is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be distributed by the family to the local Coast Guard, St. Joseph City Police, and all other first responders who have aided in the recovery efforts. Memorials may be made payable to Ashley Warren and mailed to the funeral home.
