Josephine's Obituary

Josephine Edinger, 96, of Sodus, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Jon Bendewald officiating. Out of respect for the family and guests attending, masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Josephine was born on May 8, 1924, in St. Joseph, to John & Anna (Vigansky) Gard. She grew up on the Gard Family Farm where she helped with the farming. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942. On June 15, 1946, Josephine married the love of her life, Dale Edinger, at her family farm. The two were happily married for 32 years before his passing in 1978. The two of them enjoyed spending time with their children and polka dancing. Family meant everything to Josephine. She was wonderful, caring and commonly seen serving as a “Gold Star Mother”. Josephine is survived by her children, Mary (John) Kinney of St. Joseph, Marcia Allen of Eau Claire, John Edinger of Sodus, Jeffery Edinger of Sodus, and Jerry (Pamela) Edinger of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Anna; loving husband, Dale; and her son, James who lost his life serving our country in Vietnam in 1967.
